Fundraisers & galas

A fundraiser has one constraint no other event has: every dollar the room costs is a dollar that did not go to the cause.

Which makes the honest advice here uncomfortable and worth saying anyway: ask us about an off-peak date. December through March is a thousand dollars lower on the hall and nothing about the room changes. For a charity, that is the single easiest saving available and most venues will not volunteer it.

Beyond that, a gala needs three things at once — dinner for everybody, a focal point for the programme, and somewhere to display a silent auction that people will actually walk past. The hall is wide enough to do all three without the auction ending up in a corridor.

Practically

The bar is in-house and runs on the same per-guest packages as a wedding, or on consumption if you would rather guests pay. Parking is free and on site, which matters when your attendees have already been asked for money once.

Tell us it is a fundraiser when you enquire. It changes what we suggest.

Answers

Asked before every booking

Is there a discount for charity events?

Ask, and ask about an off-peak date while you are at it — December through March is a thousand dollars lower on the hall and nothing about the room changes.

Is there space for a silent auction?

Yes. The hall is wide enough to hold dinner, a programme and an auction display without the auction ending up somewhere nobody walks.

Can guests pay for their own drinks?

Yes — a cash bar or a bar on consumption are both possible alongside the per-guest packages.
